As a dad, I’ll admit I was sceptical about hypnobirthing at first. I believed hospitals, doctors, and medical intervention were naturally the safest approach to birth. After a long and difficult first labour for my wife, that resulted in intervention, an epidural, and an assisted delivery, I assumed that was simply how birth had to be.

Fast forward to our second child, my wife and I opted for a hypnobirthing course which completely changed our perspective. Instead of viewing birth purely as a medical procedure, we learned to understand it as a natural process the body is designed for. 

The hypnobirthing course wasn't just for my wife—it prepared me as the dad too. Rather than feeling like an extra, I understood what was happening, how to support her, and the important role I could play throughout the birth, whether it was reciting positive affirmations or just helping with the breathing techniques. 

Our second child was born at home, in a relaxed environment in a birthing pool with minimal complications. It was night and day between the first birth experience in hospital, when we just didn’t know. But watching my son being born in such a relaxed environment, where we had control of the decisions being made, was incredible and cannot be described in words!

I am no longer sceptical… Hypnobirthing changed how I view the whole birth experience! I would recommend this for everyone, mums, dads or any other birth partner!
